Filming ‘Color in Bedfordshire Lace’

In 1992 I published my first book: Thistles, rose, daffodils and shamrocks — 4 bookmarks using Bedfordshire lace techniques. My involvement in publishing increased markedly when I was on the committee of The Lace Guild, where I was oversaw the preparation of Lace Guild publications. My own contributions were An Introduction to Bucks Point Lace and An Introduction to Bedfordshire Lace, together with several Lace Guild calendars and exhibition catalogues.

In 2006 I published my fourth book, Thistle, rose, daffodil, shamrock and a fuchsia — five motifs using Bedfordshire lace techniques. In the same year I also made a video, Color in Torchon, with John and Kathy Hensel in Oregon — something completely different which I thoroughly enjoyed. I filmed another video with the Hensels in 2008, on Intermediate Skills in Bucks Point Lace, and two more recently in 2018 on Color in Bedfordshire.

In 2011 I published a collection of floral Bucks Point patterns designed by Joyce Symes that I have edited. All proceeds from this book are donated to cancer research.

This was followed by something rather different: Lace, the iPhone App! This is an endeavour undertaken with my husband, David, to provide a quick reference to different styles of lace.

I spent much of 2019 and 2020 working on two books for Crowood Press: one on Bedfordshire Lace, and one with Gil Dye on Lace Identification.
